CONVERGENCE IS COMING!!! CONVERGENCE IS COMING!!!

Well well well. Look who decided to make an appearance finally. We have a date for release of the new Star Wars Destiny set: Convergence. March 28th. Initially here at the Outer Rim we thought it would be March 21st, given the announcement of Adepticon having to change their structure due to Convergence not being legal for standard construction. It would've fit in the 11 day window but nonetheless we were wrong and that's ok. It's an exciting time for Star Wars Destiny as we usher in a new era and the best R word in the dictionary currently: ROTATION! So what does all this mean these next few weeks? What do you do with your cards you've acquired over time? Do you sit idly by and just practice opening packs in preparation for release or do you have 3 decks already built in swdestinydb like I do? The Outer Rim would like to give you a few fun tips on what to do these next two weeks until release. Here's 5 things to do before March 28th.

FIND THE ONE FUN DECK YOU'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO PLAY AND BUILD IT!

This is even more true if it includes cards that are about to rotate out. Those of you who are originals to the game might want to polish off Jango/Veers for one last ride through town or play the original Rey to gain 35 additional actions one final time. Whatever deck you thought about building for fun and to be goofy do it! It will remind you why you fell in love with this game in the beginning and maybe even get those creative juices flowing again for Convergence. Bring it to a local, plop it on your side of the table, look your opponent in the eye, and tell them “You've been Janked”. Don't blink. Don't smile. Show them you mean business with Awakenings Padme. Send us a tweet over at @outerrimgames playing it and we will follow you and post it to our website!

TAKE TIME TO PUT AWAY THE OLD CARDS YOU WON'T NEED ANYMORE

If you plan to play a ton of infinite format then disregard this part. Go back through your collection and start to separate what you will need from what will rotate out. Find a nice deck box big enough for all of them and put them somewhere where you know you can get to them easily but far enough where you are not tempted to pull out Force Illusion or Hyperspace Jump. Don't give into temptation. Those cards need to die. Let them rest in peace.

LOOK THROUGH CONVERGENCE AND FIND ONE CHARACTER YOU WANT TO PLAY

Each set has that one character that you want to get your hands on at the beginning and try out to see if they work or not. In the last set I had two: Han and Qi'Ra. It just so happened that they matched in almost every single way for a pairing so I built them before the set came out and once I started opening packs I knew what cards to look for to complete my deck an play it that night. I had a blast doing so and it really gave me an idea of how well the pairing could do in a new set. For this set I'm most excited about the new Captain Phasma. She's an 18/21 point character that allows you to resolve trooper dice showing range as melee. Her Power Action lets you roll in 2 FOST die to your pool. Guess what those dice are? TROOPER dice. More melee. I'm still fine tuning my deck as I'm typing this but I do have a good idea of who I want to pair her with. Look on the YouTube channel for a good hint. I will be digging HARD for two of her opening night. She will be mine!

GET WITH YOUR LOCAL GROUP AND SCHEDULE AN OPENING WEEKEND EVENT

Building buzz around a game is always hard. What's a great way to re energize your local player base and possibly add new players? Get an event going and promote it through social media and your local game store. Our group is currently scheduling a huge pack opening the night of release, followed by a draft event the following Saturday then a Trilogy event that Sunday. It's our version of a Star Wars Weekend. It gives players 3 chances to get their hands on new product and get the fun mojo back in the game. If you don't have a LGS that seems interested in helping set up an event then use your social media outlets to reach out. Start a local Facebook group and invite all your friends who you think might enjoy the game. Even if they come to an event with no cards and just watch maybe they will be interested in the game and want to get a few packs and play sometime. We are a great community overall. There should be no reason we can't work to build this great game across the country and make it a top brand game.

SPEND TIME WITH FAMILY/FRIENDS/GAMES OTHER THAN DESTINY

You know once Convergence drops the next few weeks will be trying to build strong decks or crap that no one ever wants to see again. So go on a date with your significant other. Find a fun other game to play like Apex Legends for you video game fans or Star Wars Rebellion for you board game fans (Outer Rim guys I have this and still trying to get a game night for us). Guess I need to do this before March 28th now lol. Go see a movie or get caught up on Game of Thrones like I plan to before the epic final season. If you haven't watched GoT what is wrong with you? You probably play Crime Lord. Explains a lot.

These are just a few fun tips to get you ready for Convergence. One other thing you can do: JOIN OUR SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS! We have everything including YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Discord. They are all free to join of course and give you fun information about the game we all love. Links to all those are at the bottom of the website....DOWN BELOW HERE!! Thanks for reading this and I hope you are half as excited about Convergence and rotation as I am. Goodbye Awakenings, hello Convergence.
